3 Days Congo gorilla safari in Virunga national park

A typical 3 Day Congo Gorilla Safari takes you to Congo’s mountain gorilla home, the Virunga national park that will avail you with the best primate experience. The tour begins and ends in Rwanda‘s capital, Kigali. Currently the Democratic Republic of Congo is the least visited destination in East Africa which makes Congo safari super adventurous if one chooses to move to this virgin nation.

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bukima in DR Congo

In the morning, prepare to be picked by one of our experienced driver guides at the lodge to drive you through Kigali heading to the Bukima in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The journey usually takes estimated 4 hours to reach Goma and have a stop over for lunch and snacks. Later, continue to Bukima reaching in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking in Congo: Experience the Congo gorilla safari

After morning breakfast, transfer to the national park headquarters for briefing by the park rangers ahead of the Congo gorilla safari encounter. Here you will be reminded about the rules and regulations during trekking to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable experience. Then hike into the forested jungle searching the allocated gorilla family. Interaction with the gorillas will last for an hour after which you will descend back to the starting point. Take as many photos as possible, but only non-flashlight photography cameras are allowed, as a way of not scaring away the gorillas.

Day 3: Return to Kigali

Have breakfast at your hotel and drive back to Kigali.

OPTIONAL: You can choose to do Kigali city tour in case you have time- head for Kigali to visit the genocide memorial site, local market visits, and national museum. Later drop off at your hotel or airport for return flight.
