SAFARI SUMMARY

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Murchison falls National Park-Visit Ziwa Rhino sanctuary.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls

Day 4: Visit the top of the falls and transfer to Kibale National Park

The 10 days Uganda group safari is an extraordinary journey that takes you through Uganda’s prime destinations. It involves visiting five national parks each with a unique activity to offer to travelers. The journey is an opportunity for travelers to satisfy their curiosity. This journey will take you to Murchison falls national park, Kibale forest national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, Bwindi Impenetrable national park and Lake Mburo national park

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Murchison falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary.

Upon your arrival at Entebbe international airport or after a morning breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, you will meet our driver guide. He or she will brief you on the safari. Embark on the 6 to 7 hours’ drive along Kampala – Bombo – Masindi road to Murchison falls national park.

 You will stop at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for a rhinoceros experience. Here you will learn about the stories of the rhinos and how they were at the verge of extinction before the establishment of the sanctuary. This is why they are still categorized under world’s endangered species. 

Continue with lunch in Masindi and reach Murchison falls national park.

Check in to your earlier booked lodge upon arrival, for relaxation, dinner and sleepover.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls

After a morning breakfast, you will meet your guide and go for a morning game drive to the savannah plains of the park. This is the chance for you to view majority of the animal species including the big four animals that is lion, leopard, buffalo and elephant. Murchison falls national park is a home to several bird species which include but not limited to; Shoe bill, African Darter, Giant Kingfisher, Osprey, Long-toed Plover, Grey-headed Kingfisher, Veracious Dove, and the Black-headed Lapwing. 

Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. 

In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise at the Nile River. The cruise takes you to the bottom of the falls from where you will enjoy views of aquatic animals. Quite a number of activities take place at the bottom of the falls, these include; kayaking, canoeing, white water rafting, etc. [inform your love Uganda safari agent as early as possible if you are interested in any of these activities for earlier booking and the list of requirements]

Return to the lodge in the later hours of the day for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Nile Delta safari and evening game drive

You will wake up and go for a Nile Delta safari with breakfast on board. This delta is where the great river Nile flows into Lake Albert after passing through the spectacular Murchison Falls. It is here that you stand chances of seeing almost all the animals of Murchison falls national park. They converge to drink water before they go into the bushes for grazing. You will encounter hippopotamuses, Cape buffalo, Ugandan kob, waterbuck, bushbuck, giraffe, Jackson’s heart beast, elephants, etc. 

Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the evening, you will embark on a game drive which will give you an opportunity of seeing the sun set and explore deeper parts of the park. You stand high chances of seeing hunters such as the leopard and the lion.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Visit the top of the falls and transfer to Kibale National Park

After a morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the hike to the top of the world’s strongest waterfalls. You will enjoy the views as well as the way how the water squeezes itself in the 80m gorge while roaring like a lion. This is one of the times that you memorable pictures. 

Continue with lunch en’ route in either Hoima or Fort Portal depending on time. The journey takes you through banana and tea plantations as well as scenic views of the rift valley. You will then visit the Amabere ga Nyinamwiru caves and Nyakasura falls a few kilometers from Fort portal town after lunch and have a short Fort Portal city tour if possible. 

Continue to Kibale forest national park. Check in to the lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight.

Driving time:  2 to 3 hours

Day 5: Morning chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest, afternoon Bigodi community walk, and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After a morning breakfast, drive to the Visitors’ center for briefing about chimpanzee trekking. You will start on the trek in the forests of Kibale and get to interact with these apes. Spend an hour in their presence and get to create those everlasting memories. The trek comes with spectacular views of different plant, birds and animal species. 

Return to your lodge for lunch and check out of the lodge. You go for a tour in Bigodi wetland which comes with spectacular views of birds which include; White-spotted Fluff tail, White-breasted Negro finch, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Black Bishop, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Boscage’s Bush-shrike, the Black-crowned Waxbill, Black & white Shrike-flycatcher, Superb Sunbird and Yellow-billed Barbet,. You will experience views of other animal species in Kibale forest national park such as monkeys and other primate species. 

You will meet your drive and embark on the drive to Queen Elizabeth national park. The journey comprises of rolling hills, lush vegetation and scenic views of the great Rwenzori Mountains.

Check in to the lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight.

Day 6: Morning game drive in Kasenyi plains and an afternoon Boat ride on Kazinga channel

After a morning breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. The areas is a home to multiple species of both birds and animals. You will encounter animals such as elephants, buffaloes, zebras, leopard, to mention but a few. 

During the morning game drive, you will also see multiple tree and bird species among which include; yellow bill, Robin chat, read-throated wryneck, African emerald cuckoo, brown illadospis, lesser flamingos, papyrus gonolek, to mention but a few.

You will return to your lodge for lunch. 

Later on, go to Mweya for a boat cruise at Kazinga channel. Here you will enjoy views of the surrounding areas while sailing the waters. You will see many animals converging at the channel to drink and several water animals such as hippos and crocodiles. Multiple water birds also are found here some of which are rift valley endemics. 

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Travel to Bwindi, and en’ route game drive in the Ishasha sector in search of the tree-climbing lions

After a morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and go for an en’ route game drive via Ishasha sector. This is the best moment for you to have a glance on the kings of the jungle. These tree climbing lions are found only in Queen Elizabeth national park in Uganda. Meeting them on a hunt or during the mating season is always a remarkable experience. 

Continue to Bwindi impenetrable national park – the home of mountain gorillas. It is a rough ride in the hills of Kabale and Kisoro. Check in to the lodge for relaxation. You can go for a guided nature walk and visiting Batwa communities in the evening hours.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and transfer to lake Bunyonyi for a boat cruise.

After an early morning breakfast, meet your diver and go to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking. You will be grouped into not more than 8 people and the trekking starts. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi is one of the most adventurous tourism activities Uganda has ever had. It involves walking the trails of the forest in search of these apes. Upon encountering the gorillas, you will be given a full hour to spend in their presence. Take as many pictures as you wish but do not use flash light cameras. 

Return to your lodge for lunch and check out of the lodge. Embark on the road to Lake Bunyonyi via Kabale town for an afternoon boat cruise. This will introduce you to beautiful sceneries as well as bird sightings. Lake Bunyonyi is a home to thousands of birds such as grey crowned cranes, herons, white tailed monad, weavers, African harrier hawk, egrets, cardinal woodpecker, grey crowned cranes, African king fisher, to mention but a few. 

Check in to the lodge, have dinner, relax and spend a night.

Day 9: Drive to Lake Mburo, game drive on arrival 

After a morning breakfast, meet your driver and start your journey to Lake Mburo National park with a lunch stopover at Igongo cultural center in Biharwe – Mbarara city. At Igongo, you will visit the archives and learn about the history of Ankole kingdom and western Uganda as a whole.

Continue and enter Lake Mburo national park via Sanga gate. You will embark on the game drive upon arrival. This is where you will enjoy scenic views as the sun goes down while encountering hundreds of Zebras, buffaloes, waterbuck, giraffes and multiple bird species.

Travel time: 4 to 5 hours

Day 10: Game walk-in lake Mburo and transfer back to Kampala

After a morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and go for game-walk with in the savannah plains of Lake Mburo national park. You will meet several animal species which is a chance for you to take a picture you might have missed on previous days since this is your last national park. 

You will meet your driver along the way and exit the park via Nshara gate. Continue via Mbarara – Masaka – Kampala road. Have lunch en’ route and a stopover at the Uganda equator in Mpigi for pictures. You can as well buy something from the craft shop to always remind of your trip. 

The driver will drop you at a hotel in Kampala or Entebbe international airport and you board a plane back home. Hence the end of the 10 days Uganda group safari.
