Many years ago, Uganda has always been known as the pearl of Africa; a newly independent republic with a thriving economy and the splendid national parks. These have continued to attract many tourists to come for safaris to Uganda. This was a place to take a safari holiday, floating down the crocodile flanked Nile, fishing in L.Victoria; which is one of the greatest lakes in the country. One can view elephant herds of queen Elizabeth National park and also listening to the roar of the Murchison falls.
The four decades of violence that happened in Uganda include; the political turmoil and the economic collapse. This started with the bloodthirsty place of Idi Amin. It ended with the religious psychopath Joseph Kony and the Lord’s resistance Army. Many safari operators have said that; the country is gearing increasing numbers of tourists interested in coming to Uganda. Uganda underwent much turmoil and upheavals from the 1970s. All these affected the safari industry in Uganda.
Uganda is rich in vegetation species as well as animal species. There are many national parks which include; Bwindi impenetrable National park that has got many mountain gorillas. These have attracted many gorilla trekking safaris to the country; kibale National park with many chimpanzees; Murchison falls national park with many wildlife species; Queen Elizabeth National park with variety of animals; Rwenzori National park; Semuliki national park commonly known for birding.
Uganda to be considered as the top tourist destination has got many tourist attractions and activities; all of which have attracted many safari tourists that have come to enjoy the attractions. Some of these include; the mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, bird species, mountains, rift valleys, lakes and rivers, source of the Nile, forests, game reserves and many more.
