What is a Uganda Visa

Uganda’s diverse landscape encompasses the snow-capped Ruwenzori Mountains and immense Lake Victoria. Its plentiful wildlife includes rare primates, the Big five mammals, numerous reptiles as well as abundant birds. A Uganda Visa is an endorsement on a passport indicating that the holder is allowed to enter, leave or stay for a specified period of time in the country. It is mandatory that every traveler to enter Uganda has to be with a visa in the passport.

Visas are required to travel to Uganda and the passport has to be valid for 6 months after your date of entry. The visas for Uganda typically permit multiple entries, but the duration of the visa validity is subject to the issuing authority’s discretion. However, tourist visas are typically issued with a validity of 2 weeks to 3 months, depending on the details of your trip.

Obtaining a visa shouldn’t scare you. Things have been made easier and better, travelers can now apply for their visas online. In the past, visas were only obtained at immigration pints at point-of-entry.  Both options are open now. However, we advise always to acquire visas before arrival to avoid the rush at the airport. Please note the immigration policies are not always consistent and may change without notice.

Visa Types

As it is in other countries, it is impossible to enter Uganda without a visa. And in case the traveler wishes to tour all the 3 East African countries; Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya, the East African tourist visa is available. The East African tourist visa is a multiple entry Visa that costs 100$ but allows one to enter the 3 East African countries; Uganda, Rwanda & Kenya. It is valid for a period of 90 days.

Having a one visa instead of the 3 separate visas saves your time at the same time the money you spend on the consular.

Uganda visa requirements

Before applying for a Uganda visa, every person wishing to enter Uganda has to be with Passport photos that meet the embassy of Uganda’s requirements, Passport copy Valid for up to 6 months, proof of yellow fever vaccine, properly completed Uganda visa application form and visa application fee.
