Remarkable Rwanda

Set against a back-drop of the towering volcanoes and the mist-wreathed mountains. Rwanda is a land of verdantly rolling hills, plunging ravines and rich cultivation. Studded with the lakes, waterfalls and the ancient forests she boasts 200 species of trees and 300 species of the orchid, many so rare they are undocumented. These have greatly attracted many safari tourists to come for tours to Rwanda. Again, when it comes to the wildlife, Rwanda wins again, offering 13 species of primates including the world famous mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, and the rare golden monkeys. The wildlife cast also includes a wide range of the antelopes, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, golden cats, and giant forest hogs.

This country also boats 670 species of birds which in a country the size of Belgium, is unprecedented. The highlights also include the fabulous shoebill stork and the elusive great blue Turaco. Africa’s first national park, the volcanoes protects the steep slopes of the Rwandan section of the Virunga Mountains; a range of six extinct and three active volcanoes that straddle the border between Uganda and the DRC. This volcanoes shot to the world fame with the 1988 film, ”The gorillas in the mist”. This which documented 20 years of pioneering gorilla research. It was undertaken by Dian Fossey. These gorillas have greatly attracted many tourists to come for gorilla trekking safaris to Remarkable Rwanda.

Again one of the approximate one thousand gorillas that remain on earth, some two hundred live in the volcanoes National park, and so heavily protected are these shy and gentle creatures. Only thirty safari tourists per day are allowed into their domain. Rwanda has viewing permits and was introduced a world famous annual baby gorilla naming ceremony; the Kwita Izina, which attracts the visitors from all over the globe.

The other many famous tourist attractions in Rwanda also include; Nyungwe forest national park, Akagera National park, stunning Lake Kivu, Kigali city, which is also the city that never sleeps; Butare the cultural heartbeat the royal palace at Nyanza, the intore Dancers and the Retail Rwanda. Thus all these have greatly attracted many tourists to come for safaris to Rwanda.
