12 Days Kenya & Uganda Combined Wildlife Safari Tour

While on this 12 Days Kenya-Uganda Combined Safari Tour, you will enjoy seeing mountain Gorillas as well as other wildlife species. This will begin with the visit to Eldoret through Lake Nakuru and continue across the northern shores of Lake Victoria and reach Kampala where you will have a city tour and visit various historical sites like the Kabaka’s palace, Kasubi tombs, Namugongo martyrs’ shrine and many more places.

You will visit Kalinzu forest Reserve and undertake a chimpanzee tracking adventure. This safari will also include a gorilla tracking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park as well as a visit to Lake Bunyonyi where you will enjoy canoe rides and optional tours to the Batwa communities.

Detailed itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival.

You will arrive in Nairobi and make your way to the hotel; attend a pre-departure meeting with the company representatives. Please make sure you have all the necessary visas for the tour by the time of the welcome meeting. It’s also important to read the visas section in the trip details making sure which Visas you will need.

Day 2: Eldoret /Kampala.

You will view landscapes as you cross over the Mau Mau escarpments to Eldoret. Continue to Uganda across the northern shores of Lake Victoria to Kampala, which is Uganda’s capital city. This area was made of numerous rolling hills and the lush wetlands.

You will enjoy many tourist attractions which are found in Kampala and these include; Kasubi Tombs, Kabaka’s palace, Namugongo martyrs’ shrine, local markets and many more.

Day 3: Visit Kalinzu Forest Reserve

Chimpanzee Tracking

You will enjoy an inclusive chimpanzee tracking adventure through the scenic Kalinzu forest reserve. You will also trek along the ridges and the valleys of the rift valley escarpments to visit chimpanzees in their habitats. This forest trails also offer amazing views over the Rwenzori Mountains, Lake Edward, Kazinga Channel and the Congo trail.

Day 4-6: Gorilla trekking & Lake Bunyonyi.

You will travel to Lake Bunyonyi, where you will enjoy activities including the community visits and the canoe rides, you will then enjoy the guided trek deep into the forest sloped volcanoes for a wild encounter of the mountain gorillas. You will also engage in gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable National park, which harbors over 480 mountain gorillas. Early in the morning, you will drive in smaller vehicles to the park office and meet the local mountain guides and the porters, who will brief you about the trek.

This trek also takes from one to six hours and can exceed the altitude of 2500m. This terrain is rough and at times muddy and slippery therefore the trekkers are advised on the type of clothes that they should carry. Later after your trek, you will have many optional activities to carry out and these include; visiting the Batwa people, canoeing in Lake Bunyonyi, rest and enjoy the scenery of the lakes and many more. You will trek the gorillas twice.

You will travel to one of the most beautiful lakes, which is located some few kilometers from Kampala. Lake Nabugabo also boosts several species of trees, monkeys and the birds. This site holds 15% of the world’s blue swallows and also supports five globally threatened bird species. You will enjoy many nature walks, fishing trips and the boating adventures.

You will head to the shores of Lake Victoria which is commonly known as the source of the Nile, you will spend the day rafting or Kayaking down the Nile River, mountain biking in the Mabira Forest, also volunteering with the local project, and enjoy the relaxed vibe of Jinja, this town is located along the source of the Nile, you will enjoy Bujjagali falls, Kayaking spots and white water rafting.

You will travel back to Kenya for your night in Eldoret. Early in the morning, you will continue to Lake Nkuru, which is one of the rift valley soda lakes. It attracts many flamingos. The surface of the shallow lake is also often hardly recognized due to the continually shifting mass of the pink. This park is also rich in many other species which include; White winged black, Stilts, Ducks, Avocets. The park has also got 25 Rhinos, one of the largest concentrations in the country, therefore the chance of spotting these survivors are more than in other parks. There are also other Rothschill, Giraffe, Zebras, Impala, Gazelle, Water Buck, Lion, Warthog, Bushbuck and the Buffalos and the Leopards.

You will spend your time enjoying many optional activities like the walking safari in order to view many animal species including the giraffe, antelopes, and bird species including the Spotting Ibis, Lovebirds, Fish Eagles and the Hippos and the Black and White Colobous monkeys along the lake. Lake Naivasha is also currently about 20km long and it’s surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia. You will also enjoy many hippos which are found in the Lake.

You will transfer to Nairobi, where the tour ends where you will arrive in the afternoon.
